01Our commitment
Verain Insurance Inc. believes financial security is a universal need. Our digital and in-person services are designed to be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for clients with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive differences.
This is an ongoing effort. We test, listen, and improve continuously — and we welcome anyone who encounters a barrier to tell us so we can fix it.
Sufficient color contrast, scalable text, alt text on images, captions on video.
Full keyboard access, no time-traps, predictable focus order, large tap targets.
Clear forms, helpful errors, consistent navigation, jargon explained when used.
Semantic HTML, ARIA where needed, tested with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
02Standards we follow
This website targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the international standard published by the W3C. We also follow the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.
Audits are performed:
- Quarterly, using automated tooling (axe-core, Lighthouse)
- Annually, with manual screen-reader testing
- On every major template change, before it is published
03Features built in
Things you can rely on across this website:
- Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element is reachable with Tab, activated with Enter or Space, and dismissed with Escape.
- Visible focus. Focus rings are never removed without a high-contrast replacement.
- Text scaling. Content remains readable up to 200% zoom without loss of function.
- Color contrast. Body text meets a minimum 4.5:1 ratio against its background; large headings meet 3:1.
- Reduced motion. Decorative animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting. - Form labels. Every input has a programmatic label and inline error messaging tied with
aria-describedby. - Skip-to-content. A keyboard-first link jumps past the navigation on every page.
04Known limitations
We are honest about where we still have work to do:
- A small number of legacy carrier PDFs we hand off may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We will read these aloud or summarize them on request.
- Some embedded carrier video content does not yet have transcripts. We provide written equivalents within two business days of request.
- Our quote form is single-language (English) at present. Punjabi and Hindi versions are planned for 2026.
05Alternative formats
Any document we provide — quote summaries, applications, illustrations, policy contracts — can be delivered in an alternative format on request, at no charge:
- Large-print PDF (18pt or 24pt)
- Audio narration (MP3)
- Plain-text email summary
- In-person walk-through at our office or by phone
Email insurance@verain.ca with the document name and your preferred format. Most requests are fulfilled within two business days.
06AODA compliance
Verain Insurance Inc. complies with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, including:
- Customer service standards (training, service-animal & support-person policies)
- Information & communications standards (accessible feedback, accessible formats)
- Employment standards (accommodation across the employment lifecycle)
A copy of our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan is available on request.
